Our Equality Unit is responsible for a range of functions that ensure our policies keep pace with equality, good relations and human rights. Our objectives include:
- promoting equality awareness through general equality and induction training, disability awareness training and communication support training.
- mainstreaming equality in the organisation through the publication of regular equality bulletins, quarterly equality reports, advice on equality issues
- monitoring and research through the continued development of equality monitoring systems, mapping the BME and Migrant Worker Communities and disability mapping reports.

- maintaining the consultative forum, which consists of a steering group of members from a variety of interest groups which meets on a quarterly basis and the full forum which meets annually.

- policy statement on sexual orientation
- next generation equality scheme
- children and young peoples issues, including child protection issues and child protection training
- safeguarding vulnerable adults
- equality policy awareness, including review of equality policy, best practice, equality screening and equality impact assessments (EQIA’s)
- maintain partnership, external committees and liaison work
- to manage equality based communication support including the management of the telephone and face to face interpretation and translation services for the organisation.
- the Human Rights agenda including human rights briefings, children and young peoples policy statement, UNCRC and ECHR.
- Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults is a matter of priority for the Housing Executive. Some Vulnerable Adults are Housing Executive customers and use Housing Executive offices and services. This Policy and Procedures sets out the Housing Executive’s policy with regard to adult safeguarding and what is expected from staff.
