Housing Council

What is the Housing Council?

The Housing Council was established in 1971. The Council is consulted by the Housing Executive and the Department for Social Development on all matters that affect housing policy in Northern Ireland. We meet once a month with the Housing Council to explain our operations and strategy and discuss local impact.

The Housing Council is made up of one representative from each of the 26 District Councils in Northern Ireland.  Four members of the Housing Council members always sit on the Board of the Housing Executive. They are appointed for a one year period.
