Dr Monica Wilson was appointed to our Board in November 2004.  She is the Chief Executive of Disability Action, an Agency which is a strong advocate of the rights of people with disabilities. Dr Wilson is a person with a disability and prior to joining the voluntary sector she was a teacher.
Monica is a former member of the Equality Commission for Northern Ireland and served on the UK Disability Rights Taskforce. She also served on a range of bodies including the Sports Council for Northern Ireland, the Northern Ireland Transport Holding Company and a number of voluntary sector committees.
She was a member of the Economic Rights Working Party on the Northern Ireland Bill of Rights, and on the Learning and Skills Advisory Board of the Department of Employment and Learning and is an advisor to the Employers’ Forum on Disability U.K.
Dr Wilson is a past President of the European Union of Supported Employment. In 1997 she received an OBE for her services to people with disabilities and in 2001 received an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Ulster.
