Choice Based Lettings
We are carrying out a new scheme where our available homes in designated locations will be advertised weekly. Anyone who is already on the Waiting List can register interest in the specific home advertised. This scheme will start in January 2014.
We have chosen the locations because there are normally available homes, and we hope that advertising will give people on the Waiting List choice and help us to let the homes faster to people who want them.
Instead of the traditional method of making a direct offer, we will only make an offer from the list of applicants who register interest in the home. We will use the rules of the Housing Selection Scheme to decide who gets the home from this list. This means that to be considered you must respond to the advertisement for the home you are interested in.
How our available homes are advertised
You can see available homes which are being advertised by checking online at www.propertynews.com/nihe.
If you want to be considered for any of the advertised homes then you should check this website every week, as newly available homes may be added on a weekly basis. We will only add newly available homes to the website between Wednesdays and Fridays.
The advertisements tell you the location of the home, the number of bedrooms, the weekly rent and other features. Some homes will be advertised whilst they are undergoing repairs and you may be asked to view before repairs are completed.
You should think carefully before registering an interest, to make sure that the home is right for you i.e. the type of home and its location meet the needs of your household.
Registering your interest in an available home
If you are interested in any of the advertised homes, register interest before the deadline of Tuesday at 5pm by either:
- Using Contact the Agent / E-mail Agent on www.propertynews.com/nihe for the home you are interested in;
- Calling 03448 920 900 and quoting Choice-Based Lettings followed by the relevant Local Office e.g. Shankill;
- Calling into the relevant Local Office in person.
You will need to give the following information:
- Your name, address and contact telephone number.
- The address of the home you are interested in.
- Your Housing Application Reference Number (You'll find this number at the top of any letters you received from us about your housing application).
- Your Date of Birth and National Insurance Number.
We will contact you if we are able to offer you one of the homes you have registered interest in. This will normally be within one week. If you do not hear from us then it will usually be because we have offered the property to another applicant. You can contact the Local Office for feedback or check the offer status of the property on www.propertynews.com/nihe.
You can register your interest in more than one of our homes at a time, but we would ask you not to register interest in any homes if you already have an offer of housing. This will not affect any direct offers of housing that you may be entitled to receive for other locations within your Areas of Choice.
If you are not already on the Waiting List
If you are not already on the Waiting List, you cannot be considered for an offer of housing. You will need to apply separately and have your housing need assessed. The quickest way to do this is by phoning 03448 920 900.
Your basic details will be recorded and a telephone appointment arranged to assess your request for housing. This assessment will determine if you are entitled to be registered on the Waiting List.
