We have set up standards for temporary accommodation
Supporting People Programme crisis accommodation

Reception services

We are currently developing proper 'signposting' of homeless persons to appropriate offices and other services.

Assessment and enquiries

We are in the process of delivering a comprehensive training programme for assessors of homeless applicants.

After hours service

We are currently developing an after hours service.

Temporary accommodation placements

  • We have a target to reduce the use of B & B accommodation by 50%.
  • We are evaluating a range of alternative models to reduce B & B shared facility use.
  • We are carrying out follow-up visits to homeless applicants in temporary accommodation at least every 3 months.
  • We are setting up comprehensive physical/management standards for temporary accommodation.
  • We are introducing enforcement procedures of standards.

Furniture storage

  • We are formalising arrangements with the community sector for the delivery of the furniture storage services at times of community unrest.
  • We are seeking approval from the DSD to abandon means testing for furniture storage.
