How long will it take?

The speed at which your grant can be processed will depend on the level of demand and the money available. Equally, it will also depend on you sending us all the necessary documents. The following step by step guide provides a brief outline of the process.

Step 1

Complete Preliminary Enquiry form

Acknowledge receipt within 10 working days

Step 2

Inspection of property

Your local office will advise you when the inspection will take place. Depending on the
demand for grants, it may take some time before an inspection can be arranged

Step 3

Issue of Schedule of Grant Aided Works

This is a list of all the works to be carried out for grant aid, and will take up to 12 weeks

Step 4

Provide us with all the necessary documentation

Examples of documents include:

  • Proof of ownership

  • Plans, sketch plans

  • Estimate

  • Building Control Approval

  • Planning Approval

Applicants are requested to send us all documents within 6 months.

However, the length of time taken to obtain these documents will depend on other
statutory bodies

Step 5

Complete formal Test of Resources form and submit to the grants office

Details of your income, family circumstances etc. will be checked to determine your
contribution to the approved cost of the work

Step 6

Formal approval to start work

This can take up to 6 months

Step 7

Inspection of work for stage or final payment

This can take up to 2 weeks from request

Step 8

Payment of money

This can take up 4 weeks after the final inspection
