Three contracts which we recently awarded in Carrickfergus will see a £1.2 million investment in 267 homes across the district.
Fifty-four tenants in the Castlemara, Ederny and Longfield areas are set to get new kitchens, while the other contracts will see a further 52 homes having Economy 7 heating replaced with natural gas systems and 161 properties benefitting from external maintenance work.
District Manager Aileen Marks said, “This is good news for Carrickfergus tenants at the start of the New Year. The new kitchens will mean that these tenants have homes better equipped to meet the needs of everyday living, with electrical and plumbing services upgraded to cater for modern appliances. Tenants can also select finishes for their new units, work surfaces and tiles, from a range of options, to suit their own personal taste.”
“The vast majority of Housing Executive homes in the borough already have gas or oil heating systems installed and this contract to replace Economy 7 systems in 52 homes is a signal of further progress in this important work. These new, modern gas systems are fully programmed and installed to the highest specification so providing maximum efficiency and economical running costs for tenants.”
The external maintenance scheme involves 161 homes, replacing defective windows with double glazed units, servicing and repairing others. We are using the opportunity to replace or repair external woodwork as well as carrying out a range of general repairs and repainting the properties.
