Work is now underway to over 100 homes in the Banbridge District to repair and maintain the outside of the dwellings.
The work is being carried out by Bann Ltd, our contractor for this type of work in the South Area. The majority of homes will have external painting, windows serviced, concrete surfaces and guttering and downpipes cleaned.
Commenting on the start of the scheme, District Manager Aengus Hannaway said  “With the impact of the economic recession and downturn in capital receipts the Housing Executive has had to scale back many of its work programmes this year, so I am pleased that we are now able to proceed with this contract."
"Planned maintenance is designed to take care of the external elements of tenants’ homes, including repairing or replacing windows, repainting, and so gives a facelift to the entire area as well as benefiting individual homes.  As an Egan contractor, Bann Ltd work closely with the Housing Executive and residents to ensure that work runs smoothly and is to a high standard. I am confident that this will be the case for tenants in this scheme.”
Commenting on the contract, Brian Fox, Managing Director of Bann Ltd said “It is great to have got the green light for this scheme to start. This work will certainly benefit residents and, as the Housing Executive’s contractor for planned maintenance in a number of Districts, it means work for our workforce and business for those who supply us with building materials.  This is always good news but particularly in the current economic climate which has hit the building industry hard and especially at this time of year."
“We are mindful to cause as little disruption as possible when working at tenants’ homes so it is our policy to work in partnership with the Housing Executive and its tenants and to discuss details with each tenant in advance of work going ahead.”
