The Housing Executive

Housing Minister Nelson McCausland said; "Through the Programme for Government the Northern Ireland Executive has set an objective to have the Housing Executive improve the thermal efficiency of their housing stock and provide full double glazing by 2014/15.  In recent months the Northern Ireland Executive has allocated an additional £4 million to help achieve that objective.   

"Programmes such as this show that decisions taken at the Executive table can have direct positive impacts on the lives of people in our communities.  The installation of new double glazing not only makes the tenants homes more comfortable, but will help them reduce energy bills."

Housing Manager Eddie Doherty added, "This is a major boost for residents and we are delighted that we are able to start this scheme. Whilst this is included in the Program for Government, it is also the result of the Housing Executive responding to the needs of our tenants, following several meetings between residents and myself.  The windows being replaced in these properties had come to the end of their useful life.  By replacing them now tenants should benefit from greater energy efficiency, noise reduction as well as lower heating costs.

"The scheme is being carried out by PK Murphy Construction Ltd, our partners for this type of work, and their representatives will be liaising with residents and the Housing Executive during the course of the contract to ensure that the work achieves the high standards set and expected.”
