The report includes a wide range of information focusing on broad themes including prevalence of disability, mental health, general health and social wellbeing, age related issues, benefits, attitudes towards people with disabilities and support for people with disabilities. It also includes a section on issues in district offices and links to current research
This report was developed to highlight the level of information that is available about the issue of disability in Northern Ireland. From a housing perspective there are a number of indicators including information on tenants taken from the Continuous Tenants Omnibus Survey (CTOS), information from the waiting list for social housing, information on Supporting People and information on Disabled Facilities Grants. There is input from district offices on what they see as the main issues faced by customers with health and disability issues. There is also a breakdown of key legislation and research available on disability and health related issues.
The aim of the project is to provide a benchmark of information on disability in Northern Ireland to enable the Housing Executive to make informed decisions and to plan effectively to meet the future needs of our tenants.
