Our fifteenth Home Energy Conservation report has just been published. This year's report highlights some of our key achievements regarding energy conservation.
Some of the highlights included:
- £26 million invested in heating, insulation and double glazing in Housing Executive homes
- 4,189 heating conversions completed in our homes
- 7,707 insulation measures and 859 heating replacements in private homes delivered through the Warm Homes Scheme, which we administer
The report tackles fuel poverty and details a range of initiatives which we have delivered through the year aimed at improving energy efficiency, not just in Housing Executive homes but in privately owned homes and housing association properties too.
The report also summarises the findings of the 2009 House Condition Survey (
2622 KB), in which Housing Executive homes performed particularly well:
- 99% of Housing Executive homes have full central heating with the main fuels being oil (43%), gas (36%), electricity (10%) and coal (9%).
- 99% of our homes with lofts have roof space insulation but some 75% has less than the current recommended level of 270mm. These will receive loft insulation upgrades in current and future programmes.
- 72% of our homes have full double glazing,11% partial and 17% have none.
- 91% of our homes have some form of wall insulation with 9%, mainly solid wall dwellings, having none.
- The average SAP 05 or energy rating has risen from 39 in 1996 to 61 in 2009.
