Housing Executive tenants in Dunwellan Park, Newcastle have seen a vast improvement in their area following the completion of an environmental improvement scheme.
District Manager Aidan Brannigan explained, "We wanted to enhance the appearance of the area and consulted with the Dunwellan Park Residents Association about improving the environment within the estate.
“Improvements included the removal of the hard surface to the rear of the flats and replacement with hard and soft landscaping. Additional fencing, extra bin storage facilities, new pathways, tree planting and a seated area were all included in the project.
“We hope that this joint approach demonstrates the Housing Executive's commitment to working with local residents towards improving the areas in which they reside".
Ray Croman from Dunwellan Park Community Association said, "We are delighted with the outcome of the work undertaken by the Housing Executive and its contractor as this has made a big improvement to the appearance of the entire area. “
