A total of 103 Housing Executive homes in the Banbridge District are receiving new uPVC double glazed windows in a scheme costing more than £225,000.
Minister for Social Development, Nelson McCausland welcomed the investment, saying,"Through the Programme for Government the Northern Ireland Executive has set an objective to have the Housing Executive improve the thermal efficiency of their housing stock and provide full double glazing by 2014/15. In recent months the Northern Ireland Executive has allocated an additional £4 million to help achieve that objective.
"Programmes such as this in Banbridge show that decisions taken at the Executive table can have direct positive impacts on the lives of people in our communities. The installation of new double glazing not only makes the tenants homes more comfortable, but will help them reduce energy bills."
Acting Banbridge Manager Denise McNally confirmed that the scheme will also include external maintenance and repair works. “This significant investment demonstrates our commitment to providing good quality, well maintained homes for our tenants in Banbridge. " she said. "The new double glazed windows and external works not only improve each individual property but also give the area a real lift.
"We will continue to liaise with tenants and their representatives to keep them informed of progress throughout the scheme and will work with our Contractor Bann Ltd to address any issues which may arise.”
Bann Ltd Operations Director, Anne Fox, added, “We have a great deal of experience in delivering schemes and are committed to achieving high quality workmanship and high levels of customer satisfaction and when completed we carry out customer satisfaction surveys to assess and monitor our performance.”
