West Crescent, Rathcoole
One hundred and sixty two Housing Executive homes in Rathcoole set for £660,000 external makeover, while in Whiteabbey 34 homes will get heating upgrades.
The scheme will include replacing defective window frames with double glazed units, servicing and repairing others. We will also take the opportunity to replace any defective external doors and carry out necessary repairs to roofs, chimneys, fencing and paths as well as repainting the properties.
District Manager Sharon Crooks said, “It is great to see this work starting in Rathcoole, protecting the external fabric of tenants’ homes and, in doing so, giving an overall facelift to the area.  Properties involved are located in the west of the estate.  This work and investment further exemplifies the Housing Executive’s ongoing commitment to Newtownabbey and the Rathcoole community.
District Office staff and our contractor, Dixons Ltd, will keep in touch with tenants as work progresses so that they are fully aware of plans for their homes and to deal with any queries they may have. As always, it is our aim to ensure that the work is carried out to the standards set in order to achieve a high level of customer satisfaction.”
Sharon Crooks also welcomed a second contract for the district which will see 34 original gas heating back boilers replaced with more efficient wall hung boilers in homes mainly in the Whiteabbey area. This contract will represent a further £219,000 investment in Newtownabbey by the Housing Executive.
