A scheme aimed at homeowners to replace old, inefficient boilers is being introduced in the autumn.
Owner occupiers earning less than £40,000 who have a boiler at least 15 years old can apply to have it replaced. Up to £1,000 can be granted towards the replacement. If you are eligible, you can register now for the scheme.
How to apply
The grant is dependent on total gross income. It is available to assist in either:
- replacing an inefficient boiler for a more energy-efficient condensing oil or gas boiler
- switching from oil to gas; or
- switching to a wood pellet boiler
The scheme is open to owner occupiers who earn less than £40,000 and with an inefficient boiler of at least 15 years old. The grant is dependent on total gross income.

Those who think they may be eligible can call now on 03448 920900 or register by email at boiler-replacement@nihe.gov.uk. Please ensure you include your name, full postal address, Council area and contact telephone number in the email.
If you register you will be contacted again by our grants staff when the scheme opens in September. In the meantime, you can make enquiries with heating installers on your preferred new system. Information and contact details will be held in accordance with the Data Protection Act, ie they will only be used for the purpose for which they were collected.
Replacing old boilers will help people reduce their energy costs and maximise the energy efficiency of their homes.
