We strongly condemn the damage done to trees in Blackwater Way. The bark from a number of mature trees was stripped by vandals over the course of a weekend.
Our Grounds Maintenance Manager, Malachy Brennan, said, “We are always saddened to see the negative effects that vandals can have on the rest of the community and we totally condemn their behaviour. Indeed, we work closely with the community and their representatives to try to address these issues.
“The Housing Executive takes the issue of anti social behaviour very seriously and we would encourage residents to report any incidents of anti social behaviour or vandalism to us so that appropriate action can be taken against those responsible.”
The eight trees, which were only planted within the last few years, were damaged to such an extent that they will die within the next year or two.
