Newry kitchen replacement Oct 2014
It’s more good news for the Newry and Mourne area as 216 of our tenants are getting brand new kitchens.
At a cost of nearly £1m our homes in Bessbrook, Drumintee, Forkhill and in Newry: Meadows, Carnagh, Innisfree and Cowan are set to benefit over the next six months.
Prior to work starting in their home every tenant will have a one to one consultation so they can have an input into what finishes they would like.  It is expected that all of the kitchens in Newry and Mourne scheduled for replacement will be started by end March 2015. The work is being carried out in partnership with Bann Ltd.
Welcoming this investment, Loma Wilson, the Housing Executive’s Area Manager said:
“This is good news for the area.  Tenants are able to select their own units so they are getting the kitchen they really want.
“It is building on the Housing Executive’s continued commitment to maintain and improve our homes.  Within the area we are delighted to bring more improvements to our tenants including, where needed, double-glazing and more energy efficient heating systems.
“Staff in our local Newry office will continue to work closely with our tenants to ensure that work not only progresses with the minimum disruption for those involved but to the highest standards.”
Nuala Green, one of the first tenants to choose her new kitchen, has the final word:
“I’m delighted to have had the chance to pick my new kitchen.  It will be great to get the work done.”
