Glenbank welcomes you to its Christmas Fair
Published: Wed, 3 Dec 2014
The Glenbank area of North Belfast is hosting a Christmas fair on Friday, 12 December from 6pm to 9pm.
Glenbank is classed as an Area at Risk, and has received significant funding from us, via the Department for Social Development, to promote community cohesion and build relationships across local and surrounding neighbourhoods. Following on from the Glenbank Generations success last month, with its charity CD track launched on Children in Need night, the Glenbank Community Association is pleased to be able to host this seasonal event for everyone in the area.
Helen Holland, Chairperson of the Glenbank Community Association is very pleased that this event is happening in the area:
“This Christmas Fair being held in Glenbank Community Centre will be a great event for everyone in the area, and it is a real boost for the local residents that this is actually going ahead. It promises to be a brilliant family evening for everyone, and everyone is invited.”
All the local residents, community representatives and volunteers, local councillors and statutory agencies have been invited to enjoy this event. There will be a large variety of market stalls, a carol service, Christmas tree light switch on and free refreshments on the night.
Our Community Cohesion Manager, Deirdre Crawford, was happy to be able to provide funding for this project, saying:
“The Housing Executive does much more than just provide homes and a landlord service; it’s about promoting community cohesion and shared spaces. The Glenbank area of North Belfast is just one area that is benefitting from our intervention and support. This Christmas Fair will showcase how well the residents of the area have embraced community spirit, and should be a great event for the whole community.”
It promises to be a great family/ community night for all – come along and enjoy it!
