We have invested £824,000 to upgrade the heating systems of its properties in Hollywood, Groomsport, Kilcooley and Rathgill.
Many of the Housing Executive’s homes in the various areas used Economy 7 as their main source of heating with others having an open fire or relied on room heaters. However, these have now been upgraded to a more energy efficient gas based system along with extra loft insulation which will ultimately help lower tenants’ heating bills.
One of our tenants, Mr Conn was delighted with the improvements commenting: “There was a lot of upheaval with the work being done but the Housing Executive’s staff did their best to give me as much notice as they could so I might get sorted beforehand. The contractors were very considerate completing the work in a day.
“I am delighted with the results and my house feels nice and warm.  I’m also looking forward to lower heating bills!”
Our contractors are currently working in Bangor replacing15-year old boiler as part of our commitment to keeping heating systems maintained. The work is expected to finish mid-May.
Richard Tanswell, the newly appointed Local Office Manager, said: “We’re delighted to bring this heating upgrade to our properties. The ‘A’ rated boilers being installed will prove more cost effective to run and support the Housing Executive’s commitment to reducing fuel poverty in Northern Ireland.”
