Down District Council carers awarness
Our staff recently took part in a well-being event for carers living in the Down District Council area
The Down District Council’s Women In Local Councils group, working with the South Eastern Health & Social Care Trust, held the event to recognise and support the role of carers in the local community.
Our own Niall Fitzpatrick,Assistant Housing Services Manager and Donna Savage, Neighbourhood Officer were on hand to provide information and advice to the carers who were able to come along to the event.
Many of the questions posed were around disabled facilities grant, energy efficiency and how to keep a home warm on these wintery days.
Other organisations which attended included the Alzheimer’s Society, British Heart Foundation and the Public Health Agency.  Those who attended the event received an inspirational talk from Anne Costello whose aim was to give people access to a wide variety of proven tools to help live life to the full.
In commenting on the event Niall Fitzpatrick said: “The Housing Executive is delighted to be involved in this type of community event.  It is great to get the chance to chat directly to people in a relaxed friendly environment about the grants and services on offer from the Housing Executive.”
If you live in the South Eastern Trust area and look after someone with an illness or disability or an older person and you would like further information, please visit the Carers Information section under ‘Services’ on the Trust’s website
