As part of our commitment to improve energy efficiency we are installing brand new gas central heating systems in some 90 homes in North Belfast at a cost of just over £300,000.
The majority of properties included in the scheme are low rise flats which have been upgraded by the Housing Executive on a regular basis. This latest scheme will see Economy 7 heating systems, which have come to the end of their useful life, replaced with natural gas systems and a focal-point fireplace.
Malachy McKinney the Housing Executive’s North Belfast Area Manager, explained: “The Housing Executive remains committed to maintaining its housing stock to a modern standard and the new, modern gas systems being installed as part of this scheme will not only help meet that aim but will ensure that the tenants involved have a heating system that provides maximum energy efficiency as well as economical running costs.”
"Staff in the North Belfast Area Office will work closely with our contractor to ensure that tenants are kept up-to-date and that all work is carried out to the high standard we all expect.”
Carillion is responsible for the installation of all new heating systems in Housing Executive homes in Belfast and their Programme Manager, Trish Whiteway, added: “Carillion, in conjunction with local Housing Executive staff, has already been speaking to the tenants involved who are delighted with the news that they are getting new gas heating systems.  I would like to take this opportunity to assure them that the work will be carried out to the highest possible standard and with the minimum possible disruption.”
