Ballymena office hosts weekly drop-in clinic
Published: Fri, 3 Jan 2014
A weekly drop-in clinic manned by nine organisations will open its doors at our Ballymena offices this month.
The Making Moves project will bring a range of support and advice services together under one roof every week to assist those most in need. Also taking part in the pilot project are the Simon Community NI, Source Training, the Hope Centre, the Citizens Advice Bureau, the Lighthouse Hostel, Vineyard Compassion, Triangle and the Careers Service.
The clinic will take place at our offices at Twickenham House at Mount Street in the town every Tuesday afternoon from 1pm-2pm. The first session takes place on January 14th. Individuals can be referred to the clinic by any of the member organisations or can drop into any session.
East Area Manager, Mairead Myles Davey said, "We are delighted to be a partner organisation in the Making Moves project and as such have agreed to facilitate a weekly clinic at our offices for those who are most in need in the Ballymena area. This project aims to give practical, relevant and immediate face-to-face support and advice at one location."
- Housing Executive staff will offer advice on housing, temporary accommodation and tenancy sustainment with advice also available on floating support services and tenancy matters from Triangle.
- The Simon Community offers advice on accommodation, rent deposit bond schemes and harm reduction programmes whilst the Lighthouse Hostel, a full-board male only provision, will offer advice on accommodation and supported living.
- The Vineyard Compassion is a service that offers emergency provisions, food parcels, clothing and household furniture. The Hope Centre is on hand with family and individual support, rehabilitation, counselling and complimentary therapies.
- Staff from Source and the Careers Service will be available to offer advice on training, education, new skills and employment.
