Boiler Replacement Scheme
The warm summer weather is not normally a time when people worry about their heating systems and how well they’re working.
And there’s nothing worse than switching on your heating system at the end of a warm spell and getting no response. Our Belfast Grants office is highlighting now is the best time to avail of its Boiler Replacement Scheme.
The Boiler Replacement Scheme helps owner occupiers in the form of a grant up to £1000.  The scheme is provided through funding from the Northern Ireland Executive and the European Regional Development Fund, and is available to households who earn less than £40,000 a year who have an inefficient boiler that is at least 15 years old.
The Boiler Replacement Scheme has been very successful in Belfast, with over 3,000 grants approved to home owners and over 2,500 old inefficient boilers replaced.
The grants go towards replacing inefficient boilers over 15 years old with energy efficient condensing oil or gas boilers, or even switching to a wood pellet boiler.
Our Belfast Grants Manager, Tom Hall, said:
“The Boiler Replacement Scheme is making a real difference financially to families who have replaced their boilers.  By replacing an old non-condensing boiler with a new condensing boiler, householders in an average three bedroom semi-detached house can save over £2,700 over 10 years. This figure increases the older the boiler is being replaced.
“Homeowners who think they are eligible should call the Housing Executive on 03448 920 900 or register by email at energyefficiency.psis@nihe.gov.uk
