Almost 450 homes in West Belfast will have their gas heating systems replaced, as part of three separate schemes currently underway in Ballymurphy, Mid Shankill, Monagh, Norglen and Whiterock.
The schemes, costing over £1.4m in total, will see the current gas boilers replaced with new wall hung boilers, the radiators replaced and a new electric fire and fireplace fitted.  Also, any insulation that is not up to standard will be upgraded, and carbon monoxide detectors will be fitted where necessary.
Sharon Beattie, West Belfast Area Manager, said:
“These heating replacement schemes are part of the Housing Executive’s continuing commitment to invest and maintain its stock.  Tenants will benefit from a heating system that provides maximum energy efficiency with economical running costs.  We have been working closely with our heating contractor for West Belfast, Carillion, and the schemes are all progressing well.”
The Carillion Programme Manager, Trish Whiteway, added:
“Carillion is pleased with the progress of all three of these heating replacement schemes, and from speaking to the tenants both before and after our works are completed, they all seem very happy with the results.  We will continue to work to provide a high standard of work with minimum disruption to people’s homes.”
