Our junior wardens at Newbuildings Primary School spent time during their last few days at school out and about the village carrying out a tidy up.
The pupils, who are part of our Junior Warden scheme, could be seen bedecked in red making their way through the village, past local shops and the community centre before finishing up at the local play park
The scheme encourages young people to take ownership of their surroundings and become more responsible and committed in making their community a safer and cleaner place in which to live. This year additional funding has been provided by the Policing & Community Safety Partnership.
In addition to the clean-up, the wardens also took part in a guided tour of their City, held anti-social behaviour talks with the Community Safety wardens, designed posters and took part in a photography project.
Patrick Duddy, our Social Education officer, said: “Newbuildings Primary School shows real commitment to the Junior Warden project. The kids are always full of enthusiasm and embrace the opportunity to make a positive difference.”
