Our Graduate Trainee Programme has produced another winner as Verity Hamill scooped the Chartered Institute of Housing’s ‘Student of the Year’ award at the recent Housing Awards ceremony.
The award recognises the hard work and dedication of students in the housing field as they continue to develop their professional skills through the Post Graduate Diploma in Housing with the University of Ulster.
Speaking after receiving the award Verity said: “I am delighted to receive this award.  I enjoyed the housing diploma course and this recognition makes the study and hard work all worthwhile.”
Verity holds a BSc (Hons) in Business Management with German from Queen’s University receiving it in 2007.  After graduating she worked at Belfast City Council before joining the Housing Executive as a Graduate Trainee in 2010.  Since joining the Housing Executive she has spent time gaining experience in a number of roles across the organisation both in head office and in local offices.
Through the Housing Executive’s Graduate Trainee Programme she undertook a part-time Post Graduate Diploma in Housing with the University of Ulster, graduating in summer 2013.  Verity is now a Senior Officer in the Housing Executive’s Business Change Team, where she has been involved in redesigning business processes in line the organisation’s restructuring.
