Portaferry Cook St Cuan Ave.
Residents from Cook St/Cuan Ave have expressed their delight with the make-over some nearby land has received from the Housing Executive.
Our local Grounds Maintenance team, headed by Davy McClure and Gary Hilliard, worked with the local community consulting on what they would like for the piece of waste land.
Once it was agreed the actual work took just two weeks to complete at a total cost of £11,864.  Our grounds maintenance team will continue to maintain the area.
Acknowledged as one of the key driving forces behind this scheme, local resident Sean Lennon, said:
“It’s been great to see this transformation. The area looked so unloved but thanks to everyone’s efforts it’s marvellous.
“I’d like to thank the local Housing Executive team for undertaking the work and the support of Councillor Joe Boyle throughout.”
Local Area Manager, Owen Brady, commented:
“Thanks to a collective community-led effort what once could best be described as an ugly piece of land has become an oasis of calm. Our grounds maintenance team has done a wonderful job in transforming it.”
Local Councillor Joe Boyle who was involved in the development is delighted saying:
“This is an excellent example of how the local community and Housing Executive have worked together. I am delighted with the result where everyone living in and visiting Portaferry is benefiting from a beautifully landscaped area.”
