The Housing Executive and Belfast City Council helped local communities celebrate International Peace Day at Townsend Street interface.
Cultúrlann McAdam Ó Fiaich, the Minister for Townsend Presbyterian Church along with community representatives from Brown Square, Finn Square and St. Mary’s marked the Day by organising a free Street Party on Townsend Street.
With street performers, face painters, a hobby horse man, craft demonstrations, and bouncy castles there was fun on offer for all the family.
And the festivities took place against the backdrop of a large art installation developed by artists Emma Berkery and Deborah Malcomson with the support of local schools and Women United.
The artwork - 'Peace Takes over the Streets' - consisted of 500 brightly coloured peace doves that mimic urban pigeons. It transformed the streetscape and guaranteed that no-one would forget this unique event.
