Supporting People Disability event
The Housing Executive’s Supporting People team took part in the first Disability Pride event, which took place in Belfast at the weekend.
The international carnival and fun day hosted a colourful parade of around 1000 people of all abilities, representatives from charities and support groups.
A marketplace village and exhibition area was set up in the grounds of City Hall.
Our Supporting People team members Fionnuala McArdle and Jonathan Rankin were there to inform people of Supporting People funded services. These services are delivered by various organisations and Health Trusts, helping people live as independently as possible in the community.
Fionnuala said: “We had a very busy day! This was an excellent event for the city. We had the opportunity to tell people about Supporting People funded schemes as well as informing people about housing adaptations and getting some key pieces of feedback.
“Thanks to everyone in the Disability Pride team for making this the first, of hopefully many, events in the future,” she added.
