Ardnavalley Scout Centre near Belvoir was the venue for this year’s inter-cultural, inter-generational family fun day hosted by Belvoir Area Residents’ Group.
Our Community Cohesion Team was pleased to support the event where members of the local Polish and Indian community also came along bringing food, typical of their country, for people to sample.
A range of activities to suit all ages and many interests was provided including bouncy castles and slides, meet a pony, dance workshops and a five-a-side football tournament held in partnership with Belvoir Football Club.
Joanna Felo from Belvoir Area Residents’ Group was pleased how the event went and commented:
“It was a terrific afternoon, a real celebration of community life.  There was a great, welcoming atmosphere and despite the rain everyone had fun. On behalf of the Residents’ Group I’d like to thank the Housing Executive for their continued support of our work and this family fun afternoon.”
Our Community Cohesion officer, Chris Davis, said:
“The Housing Executive was delighted to support the group with their second family fun day. This celebration of community spirit, other cultures and traditions will go a long way to improving understanding and forge stronger relationships.”
