City of Wildflowers. There's still time to vote for Belfast to win funding
What is Grow Wild?
‘Grow Wild’ is a programme that is supported by the Big Lottery Fund that aims to bring people and communities together to sow, grow and enjoy UK native wild flowers.
It wants to inspire people to transform unloved urban spaces and areas into wildlife-friendly wild flower patches.
What is the City of Wildflowers project?
We are supporting Belfast City Council with their flagship project to plant wildflowers at sites across Belfast. Belfast City Council also wants to create a ‘seed hub’ for Northern Ireland so that everyone has access to more local seed which can support our bees, insects and birds.
The project has been selected to go head to head with other sites to become the ‘Grow Wild’ flagship site in Northern Ireland.
What could the project win?
If the ‘City of Wildflowers’ project receives the highest number of public votes ‘Grow Wild’ will award £135,000 worth of funding. This will benefit communities across Belfast such as those living near: Ormeau Park, Falls Park, Lagan Meadow and Barnett Demesne. Schools, wildlife clubs and friends groups will all get opportunities to get involved in the project.
How do I vote?
To help Belfast City Council and their partnering bodies win:
Ring 0808 228 7701 – it’s free to vote from mobiles or landlines and you can vote 3 times
The closing date is 01 November 2015
