Flipping fun at pancake party
Published: Wed, 18 Feb 2015
We have sponsored a Shrove Tuesday event at the City Hall for homeless families.
The event was hosted by the Lord Mayor Nichola Mallon and all of the families invited are currently resident in family hostels across Belfast.
An entertainment programme was laid on for the children and included
- pancake making
- face painting
- balloon modelling
- song and dance sessions
- party bags for all the children attending.
While we were the primary funder the event would not have been the success it was without the input from many of our partner organisations in the Homeless Sector including
- Northern Ireland Council for the Homeless
- Salvation Army
- Welcome Organisation
- Depaul Ireland
- Simon Community
Anne Sweeney, our Assistant Director for Strategic Partnerships, who is pictured above with Belfast Lord Mayor Nichola Mallon and Des Marley (Homelessness Services Manager) said:
"Homelessness is difficult and can lead to families feeling marginalised and on the fringes of society. It is great to attend a fantastic, fun event like this for children who are experiencing homelessness. The families have had an enjoyable day and we would like to thank the Lord Mayor for hosting us at the City Hall."
