Turf Lodge Kitchens Scheme
Good news for the Turf Lodge area of West Belfast as we complete the installation of 137 brand new kitchens in tenants’ homes.
At a cost of over £400,000 our tenants have benefited from this improvement to their home, and a further 200 tenants are also set to get new kitchens later this year.
This scheme started in February 2015, and prior to any work starting every tenant had a one to one consultation on their kitchens so they could have full input into what finishes they would like in terms of cupboard doors, handles and worktops. The work was carried out in partnership with QMAC Construction, who worked closely with our staff and the consultant, V B Evans, to ensure that all residents were happy with their new kitchen and any disruption was kept to a minimum.
Welcoming this investment Assistant Housing Services Manager, Margaret Marley from our West Belfast office, said:
“This is good news for our tenants. They are getting the kitchen they really want as they were able to select their own units and worktops.
“The Housing Executive is full committed to maintaining and improving our homes to the highest standards. Over the next few months we will be improving 200 more of our tenants’ homes in the area.
“Staff in our West Belfast office will continue to work closely with our tenants to ensure work progresses with the minimum disruption and to the highest standards.”
The work has been well received by tenants and Ms Thompson from the Norglen area of Turf Lodge, who recently had her kitchen installed, commented:
“I am really pleased with my new kitchen; it has made a big improvement to my home.”
Jacqui Mc Geough from the Turf Lodge Residents Association was also pleased with the works being carried out in the area. She said:
“The Kitchen Replacement Scheme in Turf Lodge was very much welcomed by the Residents Association. We have been working closely with the Housing Executive and the contractor to ensure the work is carried out to a high standard. We have facilitated meetings with the Housing Executive and the contractor throughout the scheme, and we look forward to working with all involved in the next kitchen scheme. Residents are welcome to contact The Turf Lodge Residents Association on 028 90619124 for any assistance.”
