We have completed more improvements in the North of the City, this time providing new kitchens for tenants in the Brucevale, Vicinage and Downview areas of North Belfast.
The kitchen replacement scheme began in September 2014. The scheme ran very smoothly and has now completed, thanks to our staff’s good communications with everyone involved and the work of the contractor, QMAC Construction. The scheme saw a total of 105 homes have their kitchens replaced, costing more than £315,000.
The work has been well received by tenants, with Margaret Ryan from Vicinage Place saying:
“I am delighted with my new kitchen, it makes such an improvement to my home. It was great to be able to choose my own kitchen units, worktop and floor tiles. The contractor was very clean and tidy.”
“I would like to say a big thank you to my Housing Officer, Paul Killeen and the workmen from QMAC Construction - they were really good with me and were friendly and professional the whole time.”
Gerard Flynn, our Assistant Housing Services Manager for the area, also commented:

“The Housing Executive is committed to improving its housing stock in North Belfast, and we will continue to work with communities and their representatives to achieve this.
The kitchens being replaced had come to the end of their useful life. Prior to work starting in their home, every tenant was consulted so they could have full input into what finishes they would like in their kitchen in terms of cupboard doors, handles, tiles and worktops. Our contractor, QMAC Construction, has worked closely with our tenants to ensure minimum disruption and a speedy transition.”
