A Rasharkin parent and toddlers group has been operating in the village for almost a year, thanks to a £2600 funding boost from us.
Rasharkin Community Association received a community grant to set up the weekly group for children aged three and under, buying toys and books and hiring out a venue in the village.
There are currently up to 18 children attending the group every Thursday in Rasharkin Community Centre. Two trips were also funded to allow the children to enjoy a day out at Cheeky Chimps and Monkey Business.
Our community grant is aimed at encouraging groups to carry out projects that will encourage volunteering, social enterprise and working with a range of agencies, including us.
Rasharkin Community Association Secretary, Mary Gilmore, said parents and children are coming not only from the village but also the wider Rasharkin area.
“Parents are definitely delighted that the facility is available to them. We would like to thank the Housing Executive for the grant, without it the group would not have been possible,” added the Secretary.
Breige Mullaghan, our local manager in Ballymoney, said:
“We are delighted to have supported this initiative and facilitate the setting up of a parent and toddler group in the village.
“Our community grants are a sign of our commitment to local families and our desire to invest in the future.
