The village is nestled in the Mid-Ulster District outside Maghera.
We will be examining the need for social and affordable housing in Swatragh by conducting a housing needs survey.
A key part of this will be an information event, being held at the Granaghan Resource Centre in the village on Wednesday 14th March from 7-9pm, where people can register their interest in living in the area.
People will have the opportunity to speak to our about the application process as well as get advice on a range of housing issues.
Michael Dallat, our mid Ulster area manager, explains why we are assessing the need for housing in Swatragh:
“There often is a hidden housing need in rural communities as people feel that they there is little chance of renting or owning a property in their local area. By carrying out this survey we hope to get an understanding of the housing needs of those interested in living in Swatragh.
“If we are able to identify a demand for social or affordable housing being built in the village then a range of options will be considered and discussed with residents.
“The Housing Executive is committed to creating vibrant, shared, healthy and sustainable communities and conducting housing needs survey is one of the ways in which we engage with those living in rural areas.”
Further details about the information event and the housing needs survey can be found by contacting our Rural and Regeneration Unit on 028 9598 2502.
