We home in on Aghadowey

As part of a housing need test in Aghadowey, we hosted a housing information event and held a ‘My Dream Home’ art competition in the local primary school.
Over recent weeks, we have been engaging with the local community to find out if there is a need for new social or affordable housing.
A housing information event was held in Culcrow Primary School on the 22nd March, where people had the opportunity to register their interest in social or affordable housing.
Attendees also spoke to our staff about the application process and got advice on a range of housing issues.
The event was part of a rural housing need test aimed at encouraging people to come forward to discuss their housing options with us.
This also included a ‘My Dream Home’ art competition, where young people were asked to design their fantasy house.
Mark Alexander, our Causeway Area Manager, explains why the organisation is carrying out a housing need test in Aghadowey:
“We’ve been actively engaging with residents in the community to find out what their vision is for the future and to make sure that the voice of those living in rural areas is heard.
“Our event in Culcrow Primary School and the My Dream Home competition has raised awareness of how local people can register their interest in social or affordable housing in the area.
“We have had an encouraging response to the housing need test and so the Housing Executive will now discuss potential options with residents.”
If you were unable to get to the event you can still register your interest in affordable or social housing in Aghadowey by contacting our Rural and Regeneration Unit on 028 9598 2502.
