Victim support
Victim Support NI, the leading organisation supporting victims of crime in Northern Ireland, has teamed up with us, to provide support to victims of crime in Newry.
Due to budgetary constraints Victim Support NI, the charity which helps victims of crime in communities and courts throughout Northern Ireland, recently had to close their Newry office. However, it will still be able to provide support services as we have agreed to make a room available to them in their Boat Street office. Victim Support NI Newry and Armagh Co-ordinator Patricia McNulty, said:
“We are happy to be able to continue to deliver emotional support and practical help to victims of crime in the Newry area thanks to this new partnership with the Housing Executive.
“Dealing with the consequences of crime can be really tough for many people and we are here to help victims get appropriate services, to assist in applying for compensation if a victim has been injured and we can also provide help to victims and witnesses ahead of, and during, court to give them the confidence to make their voices heard.
“We will be in Newry Housing Executive on Monday and Wednesday mornings. If you have been affected by crime and need support please give us a call on 02890243133.”
Our Area Manager, Owen McDonnell said:
“The Housing Executive’s remit is broader than bricks and mortar. This partnership with Victim Support NI is a good example of how we support our local community in the wider sense.
“The team in Newry is delighted to be able to help Victim Support NI as they seek to assist those who have been affected by crime.”
