Social Housing Investment and Reform
Finaghy Belfast
The Housing Executive recognises that now is the time for change in order to sustain investment.
Not only in our own homes but also to deliver new homes and the provision of housing functions across Northern Ireland.
Current funding arrangements will not allow us to deliver what is clearly required. There is now a pressing need to consider new and sustainable options so that high quality homes and services can be provided in the future. We also must use this time to provide clarity for tenants, our staff and others in the housing sector. The Board and senior management team therefore welcomes the priority that the Minister has given this in his statement to the Assembly this afternoon.
The Housing Executive is part of the Social Housing Reform Programme. It will continue to work with the new Department for Communities and others to explore options for future structures. Alongside these partners, it will ensure that reform will be underpinned by the values of fairness and equity which have served our customers well for 45 years. Stakeholders such as tenants and staff will be involved in discussions about reform and kept up to date about any changes to structures.
