Tots a lot

It was kids play for the Moy’s tots after they received funding from us.
Since 2008 the Moy parent and toddler group has run each Thursday from 10am until 12noon bringing a lot of pleasure to the parents and children who have attended.
It is giving families living in the area the opportunity to mix and share experience as the children play together. It is intergenerational and cross-cultural as grandparents and parents from a variety of countries come along.
When it started seven years ago, four parents with children turned up but since then it has grown in popularity and at the moment around 30 children bring their grown-up each week for their play time.
It has received a lot of support from local businesses and the community and recently the Housing Executive was also able to provide funding to the initiative through its Community Cohesion team.
Michelle Hazlett, the Housing Executive’s Good Relations Officer for the area, said:
“We are committed to community cohesion and were pleased to support the work of the Moy Parent and Toddler group which contributes so much to the local area. Ensuring the toddlers of the Moy continue to get the chance to play together while their parents and grandparents develop relations and mix is an important contribution to the Moy’s ongoing development.”
Eleanor Chambers from the playgroup said:
“The Parent and Toddler grew out of a request from the people of the Moy to have one and it has gone from strength to strength. It has relied on the good will and support of the local community over the years and we were pleased to get an extra boost from the Housing Executive for our playgroup.”
