Local people enjoyed a family fun & retro sports day
A family fun and retro sports day was recently hosted by Carrickfergus Rugby Football Club and supported by the Housing Executive.
Children and adults from the local area enjoyed craft stalls, foods from around the world, and petting zoo.
Sports included the egg and spoon race, water relay and sack race, followed by a BBQ and live music.
Speaking on behalf of the club, President Allan Davidson said:
“Carrickfergus RFC was delighted to host this fun day. The event perfectly complements the work we do to increase the level and diversity of access to the club’s facilities, providing a safe and secure shared environment for the benefit of everyone in our community.
“We’d like to thank the Housing Executive for their continued support which makes events like this possible.”
Our Good Relations Officer, John Read, said:
“The Housing Executive recognises the important role that sport plays in promoting and enhancing good relations between communities and breaking down barriers.
“Events like this are to be welcomed as positive engagement leading to new and lasting friendships among the participants who come from different backgrounds.”
