Over 50s Sharing Information & Dancing
Published: Wed, 2 Aug 2017
Members of an over 50s group in Coleraine donned their dancing shoes when they gathered for an information event and tea dance, funded by us.
Coleraine Borough 50+ Forum organised the information event involving a number of statutory agencies offering advice on the health and welfare of older people at the Magherbuoy House Hotel.
The Forum, which was established in 2005, is made up of a number of groups from across the Coleraine borough, meeting bi-monthly to represent the interests of older people.
Rosemary McCaw, secretary of the over 50s group, said:
“This is the third information event we have held thanks to funding from the Housing Executive. Our over 50s find these sessions very useful, as do the exhibitors. Our tea dance in the evening was thoroughly enjoyed by the participants - one elderly gentleman said it was the best night he’d had in years and asked, ‘when is the next one?’”
Peter McMullan one of our graduate trainees said:
“We were delighted to be part of this information event, which was an excellent platform to further promote good relations between groups in the town and other statutory agencies.
“This event has been funded by a Housing Executive community grant and was one of £28,000 worth of community grants awarded to 10 groups in the Causeway area this year.
“Congratulations to Rosemary McCaw and her team for organising such a great event.”
