Our friends and colleagues raised £2321.30 for the Neonatal Unit in Royal Jubilee Maternity Service, which cared for ‘miracle baby’ Meabh McArdle.
Her mother Fionnuala, from Andersonstown in west Belfast, works at the Housing Executive. She handed over the cheque to Dr David Millar, who has cared for Meabh since her birth.
Meabh, who is now 16 months old, was born at 23 weeks and weighed only 1lb. Thanks to the support of her doting family and the care she received while in hospital, the gorgeous tot is back living at home with her family and thriving!
Our staff organised a number of events, including a coffee morning, in order to raise much needed funds.
“We raised the funds on behalf of the Neonatal Unit and for baby Meabh who is such a miracle,”
said Lynn Mehaffey from the Housing Executive.

Baby Meabh
“It’s great to see her today, able to live her life like any other normal baby and it’s great to have the opportunity to be able to help with the fundraising.”
Dr Millar added: “Meabh has done remarkably well considering how small she was when she was born and that’s a credit to both her and her mum.
“The money raised for the Neonatal Unit is incredibly useful. We’ll use it for equipment and for training for the nursing staff. We’ll make very good use of Meabh’s money to make sure that babies in future can be looked after as well as Meabh has been.”
