Ballyhornan information event

Our staff recently hosted an information event at the Ballyhornan Family Centre in Bishop’s Court to give local people the opportunity to register their interest in the proposed new social housing scheme for the area.
Staff from the Housing Executive and Ark Housing were on hand to answer queries regarding the proposed housing development and to talk people through the social housing application and assessment process.
Our Grants Office staff were also there to offer advice on grants for owner occupiers to improve the energy efficiency of their homes.
Our Rural and Regeneration Manager Sinead Collins said:
“We were extremely encouraged by the turnout at last night’s information event. I would like to thank everyone for coming out to talk to us and register their interest.
"The support of local community representatives was invaluable and we hope we will garner enough support to facilitate a housing scheme which will address local housing need.
“The initial response has been very positive but there is still a fortnight of the consultation to run and we would encourage anyone who may be interested and hasn’t been in touch already to contact our Rural and Regeneration Unit on 02895 982 502.”
The Ballyhornan and District Community Association Chairperson Patricia Curran added:
“We were very pleased with the turn out on Wednesday night and I would like to thank the Ballyhornan Family Centre for hosting the event, as well as St Mary’s PS Dunsford for their contribution through the Housing Executive Dream Home competition.
“Alongside local councillors and partner agencies, we have worked closely with the Housing Executive to encourage new social housing to be located to the Ballyhornan area.”
