A new cleaning company in the Derry City area is set to benefit a local charity that supports women and children who have experienced domestic abuse.
Marigolds Cleaning Services launched recently thanks to funding from the Housing Executive’s Social Housing Enterprise programme.
The company secured a £10,000 investment which will create full-time and part-time positions for people who want to return to work.
Eleanor McGuckin from Avert Enterprises Ltd, the business that runs Marigolds, said:
“Receiving the Housing Executive’s Social Housing Enterprise fund has enabled us to set up Marigolds Cleaning Services and to train our staff to a high standard.
“Foyle Women’s Aid is behind the new social enterprise and all profits generated by Marigolds will be gifted to the charity to support the women and children who are in need of their services.”
Connor Smith from our Social Enterprise Team said:
“Supporting projects like this breathes life into opportunities for local employment and provides new services to people in the local community.”
Dozens of local projects across Northern Ireland have received investments from the Housing Executive’s Social Housing Enterprise programme.
Community cafés, mental health support services, furniture upcycling initiatives and shared space projects are some of the projects that have benefited from the scheme.
