Leading a physically active lifestyle can have a significant impact on the wellbeing of people with dementia, so our staff approached their fundraising for the Alzheimer’s Society with a series of active fundraising events.
Jonny Blease, our Head of Communications and Secretariat, got the ball rolling by cycling 375 miles from London to Amsterdam.
This was followed up by a charity golf day in Clandeboye, Bangor organised by our Director of Asset Management, Paul Isherwood and his team.
Our Causeway Area Manager, Mark Alexander, and his team ended the fundraising events with a 5k run/walk along the beautiful East Strand Beach, Portrush.
Jonny Blease explained his motivation for fundraising:
"My mother, Mary, was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s in her early 50s.

"After almost 20 years of the illness, she passed away at the end of June 2015.
"The help and advice we received from the Alzheimer’s Society was invaluable.
"I wanted to take part in this cycle to provide much needed support for the Alzheimer’s Society."
Our CSR coordinator, Lora de Castro Carvalho, said:
“These events are a demonstration of the generosity, hard work and caring attitude of our staff and volunteers who, including £10k for Alzheimer’s Society, have raised just under £100,000 in the last 12 months for a variety of charities that are close to their hearts.”
