Residents in Magherafelt have been supported during the lockdown period, thanks to the funding from the Housing Executive through the Covid 19 Response fund.

Leckagh Neighbourhood Partnership was awarded £1330 in funding, which allowed them to purchase cleaning and sanitizing packages for families and vulnerable adults living in the area.

While delivering the packages, they were able to check in on residents and help to reduce social isolation on the estate.

Lisa Brown, Secretary of Leckagh Neighbourhood Partnership said: “We have been very busy since the lockdown restrictions came into place in March.

“Being able to avail of the funding from the Housing Executive has been most welcomed by everyone in the group and the wider community.

“It has allowed us to purchase and distribute sanitizing packages for our older and most vulnerable residents, who have been extremely grateful. “

Local Leckagh resident, Eileen Scott said: "As I am shielding, it has been great to receive such help and support from our local community group.

“I really appreciate all they are doing for our estate and wish them well in their future endeavours during this pandemic."

Denise Conlon, Head of Communities at the Housing Executive, said: “Community groups across Northern Ireland have made incredible efforts to ensure they are assisting the most vulnerable throughout the Covid-19 lockdown period.

“As an organisation, we have been so proud to have been able to provide support to their amazing activities through our Covid-19 Response Fund and we commend them for their work.”
