The Housing Executive’s Homeless Prevention Fund 2020-2021 has opened

The Homeless Prevention Fund is now open
The Homeless Prevention Fund is now open

Last year, the Fund invested over £330k in 29 projects and a total of 1,191 individuals directly benefitted.

There is clearly a need to continue to seek to prevent homelessness in Northern Ireland and we have secured funding for this year to run the Fund again.

Applications for funding are sought from constituted groups in the community sector or organisations in receipt of Homelessness, Supporting People funding and/or social enterprise funding.

The deadline for applications is 5pm on Friday 11th September 2020 – any responses submitted after the deadline will not be considered for funding.

In line with objective one of the Homelessness Strategy 2017-22 to prioritise homeless prevention, we introduced the fund last year.

Following an application and panel selection process, 29 projects were initiated. A range of different models were tested including intervention, personal development, training and awareness models.

This investment to prevent homelessness was a cost effective and outcome focused approach to addressing this issue.

The interventions made via these services prevented a significant number of individuals from going down the homelessness route and in so doing, prevented an increased pressure on an already stretched temporary accommodation portfolio.
