Moneyslane is one of the areas we have carried out a Rural Housing Need Test in this year.

People in need of a home are being encouraged to register their interest in living in social or affordable housing in Moneyslane by contacting our Rural and Regeneration Unit.

Over the next four weeks we will be carrying out a Rural Housing Need Test to find out if there is a need for more social or affordable housing in Moneyslane.  By doing this we hope to gain an understanding of the housing needs of those interested in living in the rural area.

Tim Gilpin, from our Rural and Regeneration Unit, explains how the Rural Housing Need Test works:

“There is often hidden housing need in rural areas as people do not put their name on the housing waiting list as they believe there is little chance of being housed there. This means it is difficult for us to determine if new social or affordable housing is needed.

“By carrying out this Rural Housing Need Test we are asking people who would like to live in Moneyslane to contact us and register their interest.

“If we identify a demand for social or affordable housing then we will examine the potential for a housing association to deliver a new build scheme.”

People in need of a home can register their interest in social or affordable housing in Moneyslane by contacting our Rural and Regeneration Unit on 028 9598 2502 or email rural.housing@nihe.gov.uk. You can also call into the Banbridge Local Office or call them on 03448 920 900.
