The Housing Executive is currently implementing a large scale modernisation programme across 104 homes in the Twinbrook area of West Belfast, with a view to making them ‘fit for the future.’

At a cost of £680,000, the twenty-one week scheme entails the fitting of new kitchens and bathrooms in the properties, along with extensive re-wiring throughout.

Sean O’Kane, Housing Executive Team Leader in the Dairy Farm office, said; “From an aesthetic point of view, the upgrades to the kitchens and bathrooms of these homes is a major improvement.

“The kitchens and bathrooms are very modern, striking and finished to a high standard.

“However, the overall work undertaken in each property – in particular the re-wiring and electrical aspects, gives real peace of mind to our tenants that their homes will be fit for use for a very long time.

“We’ve kept our tenants involved as part of the process – we consulted with them before work began and we also gave them a choice of kitchens and fittings.

“Initial feedback has already been overwhelmingly positive and we’ll continue to monitor the scheme as it proceeds.

“Our commitment to the Colin area is concrete – we have an office at Dairy Farm providing a vital access point for our customers and we will continue to look at ways to improve their living standards and their lives.”
